Chippewa Falls Youth Football
Chippewa Falls Youth Football was established to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of football. Our rules and regulations were established to ensure that all players play in an atmosphere of safety with a competitive balance between all teams. To provide for the benefit, growth, and general welfare of organized youth football in Chippewa Falls and surrounding communities.
Coach Walter after winning the Championship in 2010
We are saddened to share that Coach John "Jake" Walter has passed away. Jake was a staple for our organization for many years as he served 23 years total in various roles. During that time he served Chippewa Falls Youth Football in the following roles:
1999-2003 Hillcrest Panthers Assistant Coach
2004-2012 Hillcrest Panthers Head Coach
2006-2011, 2016-2017 CFYF Treasurer
2018-2019 CFYF Vice President
2020-2021 CFYF League Advisor
Jake could be found throughout the weeks at Weber Fields "keeping Arnie inline" as he would say. Together, Arnie and Jake, would tackle many of the tasks to operate the league successfully each season. We will forever be grateful for the countless hours he dedicated to ensuring that we have a strong program to offer our youth. He truly believed in CFYF's mission and it showed through his work.
Coaching the Hillcrest Panthers was Jake's biggest source of pride. He often spoke fondly of his days coaching and the relationships he built with his players. He would stay connected with many of them while into their adult years. He would lead his teams to win championships in 2005 and 2010. It was the process that Coach Walter appreciated most about football and it showed through his teams' successes through the years.
In 2021 Jake Walter we formally recognized Jake Walter for his efforts enshrining him in our Ring of Honor. We will deeply miss having Jake's presence in our organization and community. He will always be affectionately known to us as the "West Hill Bully" for his gruff personality on the outside but also having a huge heart on the inside. We definitely have felt your absence.
To Jake's family and loved ones: Words cannot express how deeply we appreciate his contributions to our organization. His efforts were crucial in helping us to where we are today and being able to offer opportunities for our youth. We greatly appreciate you as well as you gave your support and encouragement while he supported us often lending a hand yourselves.
Jake, we will forever miss your dedication, service, shared laughter, and most importantly friendship. Rest In Peace dear friend.
In lieu of flowers Jake's family has generously asked that donation be made to CFYF in Jake's name. We are a volunteer organization and 100% of donations will be used towards keeping our registration fees low and funding our grant program to ensure no child is turned away from playing football. Two things Jake worked tirelessly to ensure. We are also planning a memorial to be dedicated in Jake's honor at future date.

Upon reflecting on the 2022 season we understand there were many areas we could improve. Many of the issues that arose stemmed around two main sources: 1. Our number of participants grew substantially 2. We did not have enough people to organize and run all the functions of the league.
In order to improve our league operations we have identified and created positions to help run our organization more efficiently. We are seeking volunteers who are interested in helping us provide the best experience possible to our members. Having an depth knowledge of football, although helpful, is not necessary. We will help you get acclimated to your role. Anyone interested in serving in one the roles listed in the link below should contact Arnie Pehlke at 715-577-8058 for more information or to express interest in the position.
Please consider helping us through serving in one of the following roles starting in the 2023 season. In order for us to offer flag and tackle football this year we will need these positions filled. Thank you for your consideration!
